There are so many things to do and see all over the world. Isn’t this planet awesome? Scrolling your Instagram feed might give you a general idea of everything that’s out there, but it’s obviously not the same as seeing locations in-person.

Traveling is a great way to spend your time, have unique experiences and make memories.

But let’s be real: the world is big and it’s pretty overwhelming to decide where to go and what to see.

Let us weigh in!

While you’re doing research about fun places to go, the best vacation spots in the US, and the best countries to visit outside of the US, you might consider these great places to add to your Travel Bucket List.

The United States Travel Bucket List

If you’re already in the US, you don’t have to travel across the globe to see amazing things! The United States actually has so much to offer tourists. As you travel across the country and further from your home state, you’ll see unique regional cultures and geographic differences, and it may even feel like you’re visiting a different country. From the historic landmarks of New England to the beautiful beaches of Hawaii, there’s plenty of diversity on US soil to get you started on finding fun places to go!

To help with your planning, here are some of the best vacation spots in the United States.

The Florida Keys

A tropical location to see any time of the year! There are multiple islands to visit in the Keys, so you can spend your full vacation in the area and still experience plenty of variety as you go from island to island.

Since the Keys are a popular tourist destination, there’s always lots to do, whether you want to lounge on the beach or explore shopping and restaurants.

While you’re there, don’t forget to visit Mile 0 of U.S. 1 and the six-toed cats at the Hemingway House in Key West!

Why do they even call it the Florida Keys and not the Florida Aisles?

Maybe it’s time to get to know the Florida Keys a little better.

Denver, Colorado

Colorado is a beautiful, diverse state with lots to offer visitors who are working on a Travel Bucket List.

As the capital of the state, Denver is a good place to go to find a variety of activities that will give you a great experience. Along with amazing restaurants and nightlife activities, Denver is home to a beautiful botanical garden, a fun zoo, and, for those live music enthusiasts, the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre.

Denver (not to mention the rest of Colorado) is a great location for people who love outdoor activities. The landscape is great for hiking and camping, and you’ll come home with postcard-perfect pictures!

Hawaii

Hawaii is a tropical paradise, so it’s a must-visit for your Travel Bucket List!

Along with pristine beaches, Hawaii is home to beautiful waterfalls and stunning volcanoes. The best part is that the weather is just about perfect all year long, so it’s never a bad time to visit the islands. We’re willing to bet this is one of the best vacation spots in the US.

Here’s your cheatsheet of 10 things you should know before traveling to Hawaii.

It was definitely insightful and great to know before my trip there last year.

New England

New England may sound like a pretty broad suggestion to add to your Travel Bucket List, but that’s only because you’ll enjoy your travel anywhere you go.

New England is full of American history, especially in cities like Boston.

The top restaurants in Boston list will have your tummy growling even if you just ate recently.

Rural areas are great to visit in the fall to see the landscape, too! Plan a road trip through the region and get the full picture!

Alaska

Alaska is unlike any other state in the nation. Referred to as the Last Frontier, it’s full of wilderness that’s yet to be tamed by humans.

Alaska is a great place to visit to see wildlife in the United States, and if you visit between mid-September and April, you’ll get to see the breathtaking Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) dancing across the sky.

Alaska can be cold, but it’s worth it to see everything it has to offer (Plus, it’s just a short hop to Canada if you want to visit there, too).

International Travel Bucket Lists Destinations

As you build your Travel Bucket List, don’t limit yourself to the United States. The world is huge, and there’s so much to see beyond your own backyard!

The further you venture from home, the more unexpected memories will be waiting for you! Pick different locations for maximum diversity in your adventures.

Italy

Italy is the perfect intersection between Old World charm and modern amenities.

Throughout the country, you can visit beautiful vineyards, see Roman architecture, and explore the canals of Venice. And if you need another draw for adding Italy to your Travel Bucket List, just think of the amazing food!

With such a rich food culture, it is important to make trying Italian cuisine a must and we’re not just talking pizza and lasagna. We’re talking the fiorentina steak, ribollita, and more!

Italy is known for rich experiences, and it’s a wonderful place to indulge all of your senses. In fact, once you get there, you may not want to go home!

New Zealand

If you added Hawaii to your Travel Bucket List, chances are you’re going to want to add New Zealand, too. This gorgeous country is even more of a paradise than Hawaii, with beaches, mountains, volcanoes, and anything else you could want to see.

Along with the beautiful scenery, the city of Aukland — the biggest city in the nation — offers modern conveniences and exciting night life, along with museums, shopping, and lots of other activities to choose from. If you’re interested in learning about different cultures, New Zealand is home to the Maori, a culture with a rich and fascinating history.

Andes Mountains, Peru

South America is home to beautiful rainforests, as well as remnants of ancient cultures. The Andes Mountains in Peru are a wonderful place to visit in South America.

Along with the gorgeous mountains that are just begging to be climbed, Peru was home to the Incan people, and there are ruins and sites to visit that showcase the uniqueness of the Incas.

Machu Picchu is a citadel in the Andes Mountains and the Nazca Lines are geoglyphs in the desert sands showing figures (animals and other figures) that are only visible from the sky.

Adding Peru to your Travel Bucket List will guarantee an experience unlike any other.

Egypt

If you are fascinated by ancient cultures, you can’t make a Travel Bucket List of the best countries to visit without adding Egypt. Known as the Cradle of Civilization, Egypt boasts sites and relics from the earliest days of humanity.

Along with the pyramids and the Great Sphinx of Giza, you can visit the Valley of the Kings, the Unfinished Obelisk, and the Red Sea. And, of course, your trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to an Egyptian bazaar for some souvenirs to take home!

It may be hot in Egypt, but it’s a dry heat, and getting to see the birthplace of humanity firsthand will be worth it!

Agra, India

India is a big country with diverse locations to visit. While there are plenty of amazing places to see there, the spot you should add to your Travel Bucket List first is Agra.

This city is best known as the home of the Taj Mahal, but it has lots more to offer visitors who want to experience Indian culture. There are other tombs with Islamic architecture that are just as beautiful as the Taj Mahal, even if they’ve been overshadowed by it. The Moonlight Garden (Mehtab Bagh) is opposite the Taj Mahal, providing a beautiful view surrounded by nature. Indian bazaars are also highly popular shopping destinations for your souvenirs.

While you’re there, why not find a place to do some yoga? After all, India is the birthplace of yoga.

The origins of yoga have been speculated to date back to very early times but most likely developed around the sixth and fifth centuries BCE, in ancient India’s ascetic and śramaṇa movements.

And if you’re used to your new-age online yoga classes, you can do those as well. Just remember to stay active while you’re exploring all the new traditional cuisines so you don’t come back 25 pounds heavier like I always do.

The First Step Of Every Trip Is To Plan It

Whether you’re just starting your Travel Bucket List or you’re looking for a few things to add, these fun places to go will give you unique experiences, great pictures, and wonderful memories to keep the rest of your life.

Along with lots of vacation destinations throughout the United States, you can find international destinations that will take your breath away and remind you of how big and beautiful this world really is.

Don’t spend your life wishing you could see and do all those amazing things.

Start your Travel Bucket List and get to marking locations off.
